Belly mower PTO U-joint

Seems like everything I look at on this tractor needs attention. Removed the mid PTO shaft and discovered one of the U-Joints feels like it has gravel in it. Looked up the part number 76539-31180 and checked price. Just can't in my right mind pay $100.00 for a danged old U-joint.

Has anyone came up with an aftermarket replacement? Search didn't come up with anything.

Bob, by u-joint part # Oreillys had the joint in stock.

Searched for the Kubota part number on Oreilly's web site and came up empty. Any idea what part number you used?

I took the bad one apart so I could get some measurements and came up with 20 X 58MM. Closest I could find on the net was 20 X 57mm, when I get a chance I'll double check the 58MM measurement.

Bob, do you have an Industrial Bearing or Bearing Headquarters nearby? If you take what you have to them they will cross reference it to something they most likely have on a shelf. If you go to one and they don't have it but can get it, simply have them mail it to you. It'll still be much less cost than a dealer.

Look up a MOOG 398 its $36 at Advance Auto parts and $19 on Amazon

The MOOG is 20 x 57, even if it is really 20 x 58 that one mm probably isn't an issue.

For what it is worth, I found this u-joint finder for Moog if you know the u-joint type and bearing diameter.

Based on the photo Messick's has for 76539-31180 it looks like a four plain round bearings type.

I'm certain a replacement can be found if someone post accurate dimensions and a few photos.

For what it is worth Moog 811 and 812 are used in Metric PTO shafts (Bondioli & Pavesi 1 & Walterscheid 2100)
