Good morning,
I am a huge Kubota fan, and I'm not here to badmouth the brand, but wanted to share my experience. I currently own an L2501, a bx2660, a Rtvx1140, a M5-091, etc., and more land pride attachments than you could shake a stick at. This equipment was bought in order to support my 120 acre farming operation, and has served me very well.
The m5 had a loader valve issue that took three tries for the dealer to solve. I didn't take exception to that on account of my overall very positive experience with the brand. I've had no issues with the dpf and fuel economy is outstanding for a mid size tractor.
The day that I finally got the tractor back from loader valve replacement, I had a lot of work saved up for the m5. I damaged the sheet metal pretty badly on the hood when I had a load shift on the forks. This event was my fault, not anyone else's.
Back to the dealer I go, insurance should cover their part, all is well.
A month later, I am still waiting on a hood. They are telling me now mid-June because the hood is on backorder. This is not the dealer's fault, but they have been useless providing a solution. They have a used m5 on the lot, and I would be fine with them robbing that machine's hood for my tractor. Or, a hood from the factory in Georgia, or a hood from one of the classroom units at Kubota University. Dealer says they can't do any of the above.
I'm unhappy, I ask my salesman to forward my contact info to the district rep. Salesman's response is that the rep is already aware of my situation. I'm more unhappy, so I call Kubota customer service. The operator there puts me on hold, calls the dealer, and then recites what I already know- the hood is on backorder. She says that she can note my complaint. I ask if that will facilitate a solution, she advises there is nothing anyone can do but wait for the hood. She said the dealer told her I can use the tractor as is, with no hood if I wish. I asked if they will put it in writing that I won't be held liable for progressive damage if debris clogs rads, or damages fan, etc. She said no, I am on my own.
My point?
If you are considering a unit from the M family, be advised that parts may or may not be available. Further, do NOT expect Kubota to react in a way that is dynamic, if you have a problem. In truth, their support on the loader valve issue was pretty miserable, and that alone left me feeling unsettled. I had been planning on adding an M7 to the fleet, but seeing how this is experience is unfolding, I think that would be a questionable move on my part. I have crops to plant, and will need to cut hay before June, I told kubota this, and she laughed at me. If you are looking at a mid-size tractor, keep my experience in mind. I wish I had known about Kubota's disinterest in supporting the customer before I spent $60k with them.
If anyone knows a direct line to someone at Kubota that can help me please share via PM... it doesn't seem right that I should have to put this situation out to the forum just to seek a solution, or to warn my fellow orange owners.

Im happy you had a chance to vent, it sounds more like a dealer issue than the big K issue.
Beat the bytch out and use it and when the new one comes in put it on and go about your business. Yeahi t sucks when you cant get the parts you need. be happy its not a hyumda how ever its spelled, the brake backing plate takes 6 to 8 weeks and comes from Korea.
Have another cup of coffee and relax, smile and say yeah it sucks and then go play,,errrr I mean work out on the tractor

We had the same problem at our dealership. Took months to get one for a M5 series.

FYI, pulling one from production for any manufacturer is a project in itself with part manager from the manufacturer and plant manager have to agree! Most manufacturers have a certain build window for production like 60 days for a series.

Plants are multi-platform building different units at different times. Of course the hotter sellers have longer windows of production.

For us the blue and red tractors can take up to 3/4 of year to get when ordering! Kubota's response time is far better than most L, B, and BX are available at most any time.

First off, I apologize if I over simplify your situation. I do not know the condition of your hood... so take my suggestion for what it is worth.

Can the damaged hood be pounded out to make it work temporarily? Or if it is badly damaged can it be cut up to remove the damaged part (salvage the hinges, latches, etc), and tack weld or tie-wrap sheet metal in place to provide some protection while you use it? How can you make something to cover the engine and protect the radiator.

I realize that this really is not really your responsibility to fix it; but sometimes when you have work to do, you need to figure out how to get it done... even if it is temporary and a little hookie.

You also mention that there is a used tractor (same size) on their lot - any chance they could let you use that one or rent it (insurance may cover the rental charges given the length of time for the repair).

Again, sorry if I over simplified your situation.

I had an m5-111 for over a year with no real problems except the belts broke. Have not figured out why yet. The dealer gave me a new set and a free oil filter and a case of oil to put the belts on.

I have had to wait months for CAT, DEERE, and CASE parts.

I agree with conropl. If you need the tractor, pound out the hood and use it.
