Im a 6th generation Californian, we still have the ranch my great grandfather bought in 01/03/1900 in Santa Paula Ca here are a few pictures of some Cats the D-6 and D-4 are my brothers the D-2 was my fathers . The D-2 has been on the ranch for over 40 years I started driving tractor when I was 8 years old on a Cletrac model H that was in 1963 the Cletrac was very similar to the D-2 My grandchildren wont be able to wear the Cats out they seam to run forever. My L3830 is the first wheel tractor I have owned , but Ive operated many over the years and I must say Im very impressed with the Kubota

I love old iron. Thanks for sharing those pictures. They look like comfy, fun crawlers to operate on all day long. Are you a member of the Antique Cat owners club?

No farming this weekend My employer ( So Calif Edison ) decided it was best for all employees to work all weekend ( mandatory ) to restore power to all customers who had there service interupted by the 124 mile an hour winds last thursday. We work 24 hours then off for 8 then back for 16 then off for 8 then back for another 24 till all service is restored looks like itll be sometime next week before that task will be completed. Im not complaining come pay day Santa will be looking at new rifles and who knows maybe something in Orange... Thats life as a lineman ..Dan

Good luck, I retired four years ago and haven't had the time to go fishing yet and we have several stocked ponds and a boat; always something that needs to be done on the farms. My wife retired about a year and a half ago and often remarks, how in the heck did we ever have time to work?

Before my wife retired, she could not understand what I was doing with all my "spare time".

Thats the only thing that scares me about retirment is spending to much time together, love the wife but need time alone . I guess thats where the hunting and farming come into play .I may have to buy her a tractor of her own....Dan

Dan, that's a legitimate concern. My wife and I discussed this to some extent, but were not really too concerned as while we have many common interests, we are also different in many ways and have always enjoyed our independence.

We work on our property together, but we also do many things separately. My wife and I have been together since we were fifteen and I am now sixty four; she truly is the love of my life and I hers. We however both know there is such a thing as "too much togetherness" and neither is offended if the other has other plans in which we are not included.

Of course now if you see headlines,"SE Missouri woman shoots husband", ignore all that.:)

I hear what your saying , my wife and I have been married for 36 years and shes a very understanding woman I have only been home for 4 anniverseries. The year we got married I didnt draw an out of state deer tag but have been drawing quit regular since. I know we will hook up the 5th wheel and travel then its home to do some chores grab my wall tent and off to deer camp we go she likes her time alone when Im hunting so it may work. Like I tell her absence makes the heart grow fonder.
