My bro in law had a electric motor shop that did ac and dc work. After the vehicles started getting computers, he would take a battery and put light jumper wire on the vehicle before removing the battery. This solved the problem of having to reset the computer after the installation of the new battery. And we ALWAYS took the ground wire off first, regardless of the vehicle.

yes, that 12v light IS a 'dummy' load and safely drains away any 'leftover' electrons !
ALL of the vacuum tube based amps I built had 'bleeders' cause you do NOT want to touch a fully charged capacitor with 540 VDC on it !

I always shut everything off, disconnect the negative first, and use a small memory saver so the modules don’t get shocked. Clean terminals and reconnect positive first, negative last.
