I'm just curious if any of you have a daughter that is into barrel racing.

My daughter is 10 and loves it, actually is crazy about it.

We do lessons once a week, she does at least 2 one week camps each summer and we are in a rodeo circuit where she competes against girls her age.

She eats and sleeps horses!

Her events are barrels, texas barrels, speed barrels and poles.

She has a red mare now and we are looking to get her a new horse soon, She has save nearly 8K selling eggs to put towards a younger faster horse.

I actually love watching her maybe as much as she does racing and to watch these 20 or so kids in her division root and cheer on each other is pretty amazing.

Thanks for your time and look for ward to reading your responses.

Look at a thoroughbred or a thoroughbred quarter mix.
Fast and agile and did I mention FAST. 😉
My sister was a competitor back in the day rode quarters and I'd run circles around here quarter with my thoroughbred.

Barrel racing and pole bending are HUGE here in rural Nevada. I'm amazed at how many properties around here have an arena with 3 barrels sitting out there, and there are contests going on all the time at the nearest Events Center and all around northern Nevada/southern Oregon/southern Idaho.

fairly well-known barrel racer lived up the road from me before I moved. She ran her own stables for a number of years, in town (how that was allowed when nobody else could have livestock is a mystery). She owns some land that the dealership I was working for at the time, borders. Seen her and spoke with her a number of times while on test drives and such.

I always liked watching barrel racing, in some ways more than watching the rough stock. My (half) sister tried to get into it, but our little family didn't have no money to speak of and she wasn't "that" passionate about it anyway. Just wanted to "try it".

My friend you have me deepest sympathies,,, One daughter raises trains and rides Arabs, shoots mounted archery holding a world classification, and my sister rides mounted cowboy shooting, holding a world ranking as well. And all this takes is time and money, lots and lots of time and money. But then a Father will do anything for his baby daughter! And di I mention lots of time and money ?
