Thanks for the info,, this was built as a hand driven, home owner trencher in the 50s by a company out of moline light duty home owner,, made to attach tree or post and hand crank as you go. in sand and light mull she is ok rocks and other ,its light and jumps.Nice project. Looks like it was quite a bit of work, but it came out nice. Welcome to the forum.
On your chain, are the teeth all set in the same position? Trencher teeth have a pattern so at least one tooth will dig narrow, then wider, then wider yet. This allows the machine to function more efficiently. Here's an example of a chain with larger teeth. The second picture is rock teeth, but you can see how they are positioned to cut at all widths. Maybe those are not adjustable, but most are.

Thanks I like the FEL concept. It's only a 5hp brigs. I can also reattach the wheel and pull it with my 4x4. Its good for sprinkler lins and small stuffVery nicely done. We are clay here with some glacial till mixed in to keep you on your feet. I could see where that would struggle in the this soil due to its overall weight. Have you considered making either a quick hitch adaptor to use on your FEL for more downforce?
Thanks bill it was a fun project, its great for small stuff like running sprinkler lines and wire,, i can also take the lower 3 point pins off and install tires,, to tow with my quad.Nice, and unusual, which I like.
Excellent addition to a BX. Wish I had one for those times it would be priceless to get something like wire or small conduit in the ground fast and easy! Thanks bill it was a fun project, its great for small stuff like running sprinkler lines and wire,, i can also take the lower 3 point pins off and install tires,, to tow with my quad.
