Backhoe / Snowblower dolly

I've seen a few people build dollies for their BH and I'd like to build one too. I have a few questions though. The dollies on bxpanded are for BX, but I have a BH70.

About solidity, I'm worried about the force that will get applied on it while pushing down on it with the bucket when removing the backhoe
- will 1.5" square tubing be solid enough?
- What size wheels would be best?

I'm thinking of simply building a rectangle so that I can reuse this for my snowblower in the summer. This tape shows 7' long. That would be large enough for the snowblower, but does that look reasonable for the backhoe? You think I'll want stretch it more when unhooking from the tractor?

I have a BH 77 backhoe. I built my dollys out of 2x6 red pine. It is 8’ long. I used 3” swivel casters underneath. No problems with weight while attaching or detaching. Unless you keep your backhoe on all the time, you will be building one for each. I have several rear implements, and when I want to use them the backhoe comes off, and I need a place to put it. The front mount snowblower is only on for 5 months a year, and I’m able to park the blower under the FEL when it is removed in the winter.

I have the same setup as you and just built one for my BH. It makes removing and attaching your BH a breeze. I watched a few youtube videos and built one similar to the link I provided. I modified based on my setup and used scrap 2x4s, 2x6s, and 4x4s I had laying around.

thanks, yeah, I've seen your video before. Nice build. so how important is it to get the height right? I'm thinking I would still use the stabilizers to get it off/on

Here's what I use. I doubled a 2x12 for the bucket dolly for the very same reason you indicated so it could handle the down pressure when taking the weight off of the cradle to remove the mounting pins. And yes, I use the stabilizers as well to lift backhoe out of mount.

Not my video so cant take credit for that. The closer you get in height the less distance it needs to travel. I can remove and reattach without the assistance of the stabilizers and still keep the pins in so it stays put.

I think it would be better if the casters were under the bucket for support. Doesn't the frame bow when putting down pressure with the bucket?

You're right. But it doesn't bow at all while I'm applying pressure. It probably will over time though. We'll see.
