So. I see an ad for a bx25 backhoe and subframe for sale.. only problem is its fire damaged.. I have a 2370 and was wondering if it's worth the 1500 bucks to make My 2370 into a bx25.. is this restorable or more trouble then it's worth?

It is a crap shoot. Cylinders may be toast and hoses will need to be replaced. The metal might be ok but also might be distorted. Check all the pivot points to see if they will move or are seized. I can tell that one cylinder is toast for sure. The sub frame looks to be in fairly good shape. I would guess at the least you will put in another $1000 plus your time and effort and it could be considerably more than that and you may have a brittle backhoe when you are all done.

I think it depends on the extent of the fire. Is the hyd hoses metal jacketed ? Or still rubber that didn't melt. Did the cylinder rod get bent or bend from the heat ? Was it a quick gas fire or did it sit in a burning wearhouse for three days full engulfed ? And how much does the new replacement cost ? $4k $5k ? So if it takes $1000. bucks to rebuild it you'd have $2500. in it. And taking the time to rebuild it. I just wouldn't have the time.

I'd say too much risk of ending up with money and time to make it right then it's worth.

If you need a hoe real bad, go rent one. If not keep looking.

Hard to be sure from just two pictures, but I think at least 2 and possibly 3 cylinders need replacing, plus probably all hoses. To me, from 2 lousy photos, it doesn't look like the structure got hot enough to distort or weaken, but certainly needs some paint. So repair parts are on the order of CDN$1000 from Princess Auto.

Asking price is $1800 on Kijiji, so getting close to $3,000 (around US$2,200 at today's exchange rates) IF you can do all the work yourself. Is it worth it? Well, that's up to you! How bad do you need a backhoe, how much time and effort can you put into the project, and how much is a working alternative?

It looks like burnt toast to me.

That cylinder looks like it expanded in the heat. bent rod?
The rest of the cylinders (5) will need rebuilt or replaced.
The control valve will need to be rebuilt/replaced. 6 valves.
$$$$$$$
You will have to take it completely apart to clean and paint.
You will not be able to clean/paint the inside of the arms and they will rust out.
I would say it is the scrap yard for this one.

I would check a dealer as I don't think you can use it on the 2370. Under the impression it will only work on a 25.

If it was $500 i would think about it. Maybe less. Scrap value at best. Cylinders, hoses and control are junk. No way around it.
I just bought a backhoe attatchment, old and heavy but complete for $500. Its way too big for my kubota but i have something else in mind.
