I have a BX2680 and I have some to tell me that I can hook up a backhoe attachment and some are telling me that
you cannot run a backhoe on the BX2680. Anyone have a BX 2680 with a backhoe? or is it not possible?

Thank you

thopkins,

welcome to the forum,

Yes - it is possible I believe. The smaller engine, the 23s has the backhoe on it and the machine is the same to my knowledge as the 2680 other than the engine size.

you will need the subframe and all the plumbing obviously and the seat will need to be switched out.
And I believe the ROPS is different too. One is wider while the other is narrower I believe.

So that in itself may be a reason why it would not work - have you contacted your local dealer to ask them by chance?

Thank you for the reply. Yes the local dealer is the one that told me that it wouldn't work. I knew that a 2380 came equipped with the attachment and I had trouble understanding why a tractor the same size (except the engine) could accept the attachment but the changes that you outlined makes sense.
Thanks again

I have no first hand experience but in their online video Messick's explains this in some detail and they say no. The primary reason given is at least a portion of the subframe on the TLB models is an integral part of the base tractor. There is also an issue with the ROPS being bigger to accomodate the seat.

My recollection from when I bought my BX2360 is that they will not take a Kubota backhoe.

Guessing same mounting issues as Dan linked in the video.

Seems like an aftermarket BH might/could be feasible, but I'm not certain on that.

Don't recall ever seeing a BX with an aftermarket BH on it....

Although the OP did not mention it, I'll bring it up. The next logical question would be. "How about a 3 Point mounted backhoe?"

Be cautious about using a 3 point mounted one if you find one, rumor has it that you might turn your tractor into a 2 piece model.

I've never actually seen this happen, but that's the scuttlebutt.

The strain on the 3 point is tremendous with a backhoe on the 3 point. Not the way to go - unless it is the only way you have. The pulling/banging and all the rest will likely break the machine in places a few Benjamin's cannot fix.

The frames are different. You would be better off selling or trading what you have and buying a BX23S than trying to reinvent the wheel. There is no shortage of used BX23S machines on Facebook, and if you sell yours, you could probably upgrade for the difference between what you get for your old machine and what it would cost to buy a clean BX23S machine vs. trying to convert your old machine even if it were possible. At one time I believe it was Woods that was making an aftermarket backhoe unit for the older BX machines, but they were expensive and didn't work as well as a BX that came with the factory backhoe. I could have purchased a previously owned 2023 BX23S with less than 2 hours on the clock a month ago for $29,000, and it came with all the options and included a factory hard cab. That was the advertised price, and the seller was willing to negotiate. He got the machine as part of an estate purchase and wanted it gone. I bought a BXpanded backhoe quick connect from him for about 50% of the new cost and it had never been mounted on the machine. I saw the ad and saw the box with the quick hitch on the floor and asked if he wanted to sell it separately He replied "What will you give me for it and I replied $300. He accepted my offer and I picked it up the next day.
