Once you get your transmission squared away, it's critical you properly adjust the deck limit linkage per the manual. If it's adjusted correctly, the deck can't drop low enough to uncouple the slip-shaft. The same is true when raising the deck. If not adjusted properly, you can raise it too high and smash it into the bottom of the machine with enough force to bend or break something.

If it were me I either order the new one from Jones or get the used one from Mountain Man. I wouldn't try to patch the broken one. Just split it and get the work done. It won't be to bad of a job. On this farm patching never seems to work out. And when done make the needed adjustments on the mower so this won't happen again.

The previous owner woulda benefited considerably from that. But ye definitely. Looks like it’s a properly adjusted safety chain that would have prevented all of this.

Hey everyone just wanted to give an update. First off a shoutout to @Mountainman for hooking me up with a good used case. Didn’t want to tear into it till I got the parts. Seperation was pretty easy, the pump came off easily, but the trans top cover and the front cover seem to not move much more than a quarter inch. Worried that if I pry I’m going to bend a shift fork or break something.

I stepped away to run some errands took some time to look at the parts diagram and came back and popped it all apart. The shaft for the front drive shaft was snug fit into its bearing so I had to persuade it gently as I pulled the front cover off. Going well so far!
