This is my sons tractor ,he needs to remove the oil pan ,it has a stripped oil plug,he wants to know if there is anything he should be aware of ,is there a certain order things should be removed in ?
The oil plug just spins in the hole. ,but get this it does not leak,it will not move either way!Why not just tap it for a slightly larger plug?
.
Good idea I will ask him.Maybe this has already been tried, but I'll mention it anyway.
Is there any room to tap a thin screw driver between the plug and the pan so as to provide pressure that may allow the threads to catch, while attempting to unscrew the plug?
.
This is my tractor,it has 4x4 . The drive shaft is directly under the oil pan. I imagine that I will have to remove it. Will I have to remove it from the front differential? This is my sons tractor ,he needs to remove the oil pan ,it has a stripped oil plug,he wants to know if there is anything he should be aware of ,is there a certain order things should be removed in ?
What if I have a4x4. Do I have to remove the drive shaft? Do I have to remove it from the front differential?Nope nothing fancy or hidden about pulling the pan.
Remove the bolts and drop it.
The drive shaft isn't a real bad issue, but on some 4wd mdels you'll actually have to drop the whole axle to remove the pan. What if I have a4x4. Do I have to remove the drive shaft? Do I have to remove it from the front differential?
My tractor seems like I have to drop that axle or otherwise move it since the front housing for the shaft is blocking the complete removal of the oil plug itself. I did manage to get it out, but not without the plug digging into that housing. I can't imagine I'll be able to get it back in without removing that shaft. The drive shaft isn't a real bad issue, but on some 4wd mdels you'll actually have to drop the whole axle to remove the pan.
