B8200 lifter adjustment

Hey everyone,
Looking for some tips on adjusting the lifters on my B8200 please. Unfortunately it's an 11 hour drive to my property at the moment so hoping to get them right this time.
I adjusted them previously and thought it sounded fine. It now sounds really rattly on one of the cylinders and has been blowing a bit of smoke.
I followed the procedure on adjusting the valves, including doing it when it was cold.
Guessing maybe I didn't tighten one of the lock nuts properly ?
I'm too used to shim and buckets so any tips would be appreciated

I just do it a simple way...
I watch when it quits moving go a tiny bit more and then adjust it.
Has worked perfectly for me for many a year.

Turn the engine till a valve is fully open and mark the crank pulley, then turn it one full turn and adjust that valve. Repeat for each one. I have seen too many mistakes by using manuals that describe adjusting several valves at one time, that instruction is to save time only.

Hey everyone.
Just wanted to give an update. Looks like the issue was definitely a me problem. Last time I adjusted the lifters I didn't have a torque wrench that went low enough and I had left the locking nuts a little loose. Think it was the exhaust valve on no.2 that had started to go a bit rogue.
All torqued up to spec now.
Again, thank you to everyone for the help.

Now to find a rocker cover gasket. Seems I had passion fingers on last time I touched it.
