Hi handyman and ipz, Thats why I want to recheck them after it has worked for an hour or two. To make sure that the valves were all the way closed when I set them. And I am hoping that someone will post specs on what gap I am supposed to have. The reason they were loose is that the nuts on the rocker shaft hold downs were loose which makes the whole valve train loose. There is no doubt there is wear. But everything is smooth and shiny no peening no scratches. I have only put maybe 50 hours on this tractor. No complaints from me about any repairs I have to make. It is an old tractor and from the looks of things has not been treated the best. But I can only fix what my bank account says I can fix.:D

Hey Dusty,

What engine block do you have in that 8200, 3 cyl, 4 cyl ?

Nevermind, I went back, and see it's a 3 cyl. I thought I my be able to give you some tech info from my shop manual for my 4 cyl 9200. I guess some things would be the same. Glad to help if I can.
