B8200 (D950) timing issue

Last week the water pump seized up on my B8200. I tore it down and realized the thermostat housing was broken as well so I ordered that. I figured while I had the front gearcase cover off I would replace the oil seal and O ring while I was in there as well. After I cleaned everything up, I noticed the timing marks were off on the gears.

The tractor has always run well for me and I have no history on it but it looks like someone has been inside it before me. I did some forum searches but didn't find anything to my liking so I am looking for advice on how to get everything back in time.

I did read in a few places that you can crank the engine over manually until the marks line up but I wanted to verify that. I had a manual set for my machine but it went into the abyss during our move 4 years ago so I have another on order at the moment.

Any advice will help!

Your engine was in time. It takes many revolutions to get the marks to line back up. The best thing you can do at this point is just remove the center idler and line all the marks up and put it back together. You will be good to go. If you have not removed any of the gears leave it alone. Nothing has changed.

I have not removed anything at all except for the weighted crank pulley which still has its marks on it. So unless I removed any of the gears, just leave it alone then ?
