We have had this B8200HST for years...It has (4520) backhoe on it with a FEL. I run it at 748 rpm and have never sure of the right engine RPM? The tach shows 540 only, at the 748 I run the engine at a lower RPM.
Any help, if one knows what RPM for 748 would be much appreciated.

Normal full engine speed is around 2300-2500 rpm. The pto gearing is directly proportional.
540/748 is about 72 percent so running the engine at around 1700 would produce 540 rpm at the pto when on the 748 setting.

2-speed pto's were once common on Kubotas. Some implements outside the US are designed for the higher pto speed. Some Japanese tractors even have 3-speed pto's including a 1000 rpm one. Most US attachments are set up for 540 rpm. Do a search here or on TBN for more discussion. Dick B

On the tach 540 show just under 2600 rpm.

I have a B7200 with the same PTO. The higher speed is accomplished by shifting it into an overdrive gearing. Seemed pretty intuituive to me. AFAIK you get 780 at the same engine speed as 540. In other words shift to 780 gearing, set the tach at the 540 mark, and you will be getting 780 at the PTO.

If your objective is to have 540 actual pto rpm, but with the higher pto speed selected, set the engine around 1900 rpm.

I have set engine at a lower RPM for 748. Just wasn't sure what RPM? I was told at a AG show by a Kubota employee ~ Never to have it set 748 and run it with 540 rpm implement, damage will happen!
