Moved my B7800. Shut off engine. Now, will not start. I turn key. Get one click. Glow light glows. No other lights appear on instrument panel. PTO off. In neutral.

Step one was to replace the battery and check connections. Done.

Trying to figure out as much as I can before calling a mechanic so appreciate any guidance. Thanks.

Turn key to on and move pto back and forth then off same with throttle pedal. Try to push switches under seat, may be sticky. Also press clutch pedal up and down. So far that has worked on my B7800. Usually it was me bumping the pto lever.

Thank you for your response. I tried what you suggested. No change. Also, used compressed air to blow out any debris. Wouldn't the lights on the instrument panel come on when I turn the key even if it as a safety switch issue?

This tractor came to me used. One owner. I've always been able to lock down the brake and step off the tractor with it running. So the seat switch is bypassed. Correct?

I appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

See if you are getting 12v to the spade terminal on the starter solenoid when key is at crank position. (I think in the original response above that “on” should be “crank” position)

If not that is your problem and you need to figure out why not.

From your no dash light description, I would expect that you are not getting any power to the key switch. So start by cleaning both ends of the positve and the negative cables. While cleaning the starter end of the positive cable also clean any other terminals connected to that point (that provide power to the key switch.

You can search the site for “won’t crank “ and find many other suggestions to resolve your situation. I prefer not to repeat them here.

You can also find ways to hotwire the starter to make sure the starter is working properly but those are slightly dangerous so be careful if you try that - tractor engine could start and you could be run over by the tractor.

On my b7800 the seat is not jumpered and if you get off the tractor it will stay running if the break was not on and it move a small amount it will kill the motor.
I think you need to check for power and test all the fuses. and like the other fellow says to check for power at the small wire on the started while turning the key on, if no power might want to give 12 v positive to the small wire and just see if the tractor turns over. BUT you should have the lights on the dash even if one of the safeties is not allowing it to start.
