Have a 04 B7510HSD. Battery was dead last week, jumped it and it started. Took cable off and immediately stopped. Battery tested and is good. If I crank it for a while (15 sec. ) it may or may not turn over a couple of times. Fuel filter?

You need to be a little more specific... do you mean that if you crank it for a while it will start and run?

Sounds like you have issues with the stop (run) solenoid, or the circuit that controls it.

You will need to give clearer details to get better answers. ;)

If the engine stops as soon as you took off the jumper cables, that says that there was not enough voltage to keep the fuel solenoid energized. Are you sure the charging system is working? How old is the battery. If the battery is good but just discharged, if your charging system was working properly with engine RPM up a bit, then the engine should have stayed running when you disconnected the tractor from the jump battery.

I am a complete novice here. When trying to start it would not run, acting like it was not getting fuel. I did not know there was even a Stop solenoid on it. I don't know if the charging system is working. Is there a service manual would tell me what to do step by step? Tractor is stored outdoors and has probably not been serviced in 6 years (inherited it from a relative) mostly used to haul trailers around property or mowing.
I appreciate any and all help.

I think MotorHead has the right idea.. but let me expand on it..
Take the battery out & put it on a battery CHARGER & trickle charge it overnite..
While its out, clean the connections, BOTH the battery & terminals to a shiny brite metal.
Then check your belts... if they're sloppy, tighten them up.. u might have to loosen the bolts on the alternator & pry on it while u tighten a bolt.. DO NOT get it so tight it wont move or u can bounce a quarter off of it.. or it "twangs" when u strum it.. lol
Once the bat. is back in & tight, let us know how it turned out..
U might have to or u probably need to, change the fuel filter.??

When you clean the battery terminals, inspect the positive and negative cables. If they show oxidation up past the clamps, just replace the cable. On the ground side, remove the bolt that secures the cable to the tractor frame. Clean the metal frame of all rust and paint. If that frame ground is not good all the other things listed will not help!
