I went out to start my B7510 and there was no power. Turned the switch on and heard a slight buzzing sound sort of what it makes when your battery has gone bad. After that nothing. No lights on the dash nothing. So I put on a battery charger and the same thing. The date on the battery was 7/2018 almost 5 years old hence I replaced the battery thinking the battery may have gone completely bad. Luckily Costco had the battery. Same thing. No lights on the dash nothing when I turn the switch. Lights, blinkers nothing works. I looked for loose wires, etc but found nothing. Any ideas of course now the grass has started growing on our 3 acres of land. I just used the tractor to cut grass 3 days ago with no issues. Thanks.

I would clean both ends of both battery cables if you haven’t already done that. They tend to corrode so you need to get them to a shiny state to remove the corrosion.

Thanks. I cleaned them when I installed a new Interstate Battery yesterday.

Not to belabor the point but the ground cable is usually bolted to the frame and gets rusted. Did you clean that up?

You could also bypass the cables using jumper cables and see if that helps. The cables sometimes corrode inside the insulation and won’t carry enough amperage to start.

I suspect the main fuse since you have no power to anything.

And just verify the new battery is installed with the correct polarity. Doubtful but it has happened before but you had trouble before new battery.

Search for voltage drop test and start trying to find out where you are loosing power. I guess you can just start with seeing if you have 12 volts at the starter positive to ground.

Where does the power that goes to the key switch connect? At the battery terminal or the starter terminal?

My dad told me many many years ago to never buy Firestone tires and never buy an Interstate battery. 6 months ago I broke that and bought an Interstate battery from Costco and put it in my car. It had a bad cell in it right off the git go. Immediately had to take it back to Costco. I will never buy another one.

I have used Interstate Batteries for years with no issues. My local Kubota dealer sold me the one I replaced back in 7/2018 and stated Interstate made all the batteries for Kubota. This one lasted for almost 5 years.

Thanks. I traced the negative battery cable to the frame and it had rusted or corroded through. I will get one at the dealer tomorrow. Thanks for all your help.

Good that you found the problem. You can get that cleaned up and put the new cable on and then spray it with paint or varnish to keep it from corroding for a while.

Thanks for posting back with the results so others will know.

Thanks again. I used a wire brush and cleaned a lot of rust off the area where the cable is bolted to the frame. I will go ahead and get a new bolt and washers and painting the area is a good idea. I purchased this B7510 new back in 2004 so it did last a long time but I now know what to look for. There was a lot of rust under the battery area also that you can't see until removing the battery.

You do realize that Interstate has never made a battery, they are just a marketing company that sells batteries made by Johnson Controls. There is a very good chance that the battery you have installed in your car now was made by Johnson Controls.
