Today I started the tractor so my wife could cut some grass. It seemed a bit slow turning over but did start. My wife shut it down and I went to move it later and the battery seemed to be down and would not start. The lights would not even work. I jumped it to my truck which allowed lights to operate but when I try to start it there still is not enough power getting to the starter to operate it. Just turns over very slowly. It would appear that there is a bad connection in a common location that effects the starter as well as the charging current to the battery. Has anyone else experienced the same symptoms? Tomorrow I will take my battery charger and some tools and do some investigating.

The battery charger may not help.....batteries as they get old, get to a point that they cannot deliver the amps needed to start. First thing would be to place a "new" battery in the tractor. THEN take your volt meter, check the voltage while off.....should be something like 12.5 ish ......then crank and with a good battery the tractor should start, THEN take the same reading......now the voltage should be around 13.6 +

Jumping does not really help a battery that has a bad cell, cell going bad or a battery that will no longer take a charge.

The battery is not that old which I know means nothing. I did have it out last year when I was re-painting the battery tray and cleaned all the connections. I will see what I find tomorrow.
