B7200 sloppy stearing What can one do to delay the inevitable?

As the header implies. are there service and maintenance procedures that will prolong the agony?

I've replaced the lube, the tractor is stored under cover, so no water leaking in. and the adjustment to the lost motion has been made per the service literature.

Can one do more? It is rather comical watching the drag link shuck fore and aft , the front wheels twitch side to side, and the steering wheel remain stationary in my hands. Mostly, I don't fret about such things, but....

Ther should be some adjustment on the steering box to remove slack. Look for a slotted screw (bolt) that has a lock nut on it. Loosen the locknut while holding the screw and then tighten the screw a turn or two. Tighten the locknut while holding the screw in place.

That is the general process but I am sure that there is a better way to know how much to tighten the bolt and no get it too tight other than trial and error. If it gets too tight then you will have to loosen it some. You don’t want it to be real tight to turn or it wears out the parts inside the box.

On a B7100 the bolt for the front axle pivot can be tightened to stop the front axle from moving excessively. Tightening this bolt helped one of my tractors. I have no idea if the B7200 has the same type of front axle pivot bolt.

The steering on a B7200 takes a beating - especially if it had a loader on it. I have replaced the ball nut once and it currently needs another. Good news is its not expensive. It is however a bit of work.
