B7100HST Brakes - Max adjusted? - Time for shoes/lining ?

Hi Everyone,
NewToMe B7100HST late version - clean - no rust. Brakes work but don't hold very well. Went to do adjustments and equalize left/right. Looks like adjust is at max. What do you see??

Long hex nut 'frozen' with rod to brake. Took off link to pedal shaft and freed it up, but bottoms at about same point.

Does that 'say' that shoes are definitely 'worn out' ? Any other adjustments? Brakes do not make any funny noises.

Ran search on B7100HST brakes and went thru several posts (all fairly old.. like my tractor). Is there a thread that's a sort of how-to or sequence on these brakes?

Followed thread and found McMaster-Carr catalog page with many linings. Low friction, high friction, MANY sizes. Can anyone tell me which lining material and SIZE they have used on the B7100HST? There was a reference on an old thread but could not find it..

I will do a how-to for the future after I get thru this myself. Thanks!

If it's like my B6000 there was also some adjustment where the rod goes into the brake housing on the rear axle as well.

OH. I'm taking a look....
I see this:

SO: IF I temporarily disconnect that spring, and free the other end of that rod, can I rotate it in a ways to have more travel on the brakes?? My brakes don't make any noises but I'm out of adjust range..

Anyone done this??? THANKS!

Yes I did this on my B6000.
I disconnected the spring and other end of the linkage by the brake pedal and turned the whole linkage out of the rear end, adjusted the lock nut in your picture further in (towards the front end) and tightened it back into the brake assembly.

In the picture below you can see the linkage adjusted (bottom rod) as far as it would go, which gave me some brakes as opposed to nothing

On the HST tractors I own I almost never use the brakes. Because you may be at the end of adjustment does not mean you need to replace brakes! This is a slow moving machine that quits rolling when the fuel is limited by the operator.

THANKS trevoroni and CAT! I only NEED the brakes on a slope when I want to get off the tractor and it creeps a little. It PROBABLY wouldn't go too far.. But my nervous system might go TooFar..

I'll get into it today....
