The injectors are going in to get checked out on Monday. I would be curious to hear what others think about the rings and any other potential cause or remedy for the blow by.

There are 3 rings on the pistons, you can have good compression rings and bad oil control rings and it can use or burn oil.
Pull off the valve cover and run it, if it's smoking out of the top of head then it's valve guides and seals, if it's smoking from the block out the vent holes in the head then it's rings.
Smoke out the exhaust can be a injector problem it can also be an injector pump problem. I would bet money on a leaking injector.

Thanks, that is helpful. I had my injectors tested and am told that all 3 need to be rebuilt as they are leaking. I started another thread on new injectors vs. rebuilt injectors - it is more cost effective to buy new injectors but I wasn't sure if there was any benefit in added calibration with the rebuilt option.
