B7100 rear axle hubs

I have read quite a bit on the various old style rear axle hub fixes. I see they sell replacement hubs for $140-$160 each, which is a little steep for my blood.

Anyone try these replacement hubs? Do you think it is a good replacement option?

Question - the old style pinched the axle with a tight grip on 6 sides....more or less.

I wonder if that two bolt style would have the same effect. You cannot see inside the hexagon in the picture, wonder if there is a "plate" that squeezes on the axle - or is it JUST the two bolt faces pinching?

Either way - be worth the price to try it!

I have found some other pics as well. It appears it is just the 2 bolts that contact the axle.

I found that the spring was bottoming out on the tension bolt on my 1994 B7100, and that was allowing hub to not tighten down sufficiently. I trimmed one coil off of spring on each hub, and never had an issue sgain.

Designers of industrial machines that use sprockets and pullies have long known a second set screw at 45 deg from the first is less likely to work loose vs a single set screw. Of course the collet style hub is far superior to both! Jeff
