B7100 question - am I missing a cover

This is on the side of the tunnel, it is the left side of the tractor and is directly in line with the PTO lever about six inches behind it, it looks like it should have a cover, but I can't find anything in the parts manual or even tell why this opening is there. Never noticed it until I took the fenders off to paint. I can't tell if it is open to the interior of the transmission or not.

Its not open to the interior and both my B7100s are the same so no need to worry there!
The only reason I can think of as to why it it is there is that maybe the casting is made to suit another model as well that has a lever in that position ?
