Your probably not going to find either the fluid or the HST filter at O'reilly's.

The fluid type is UDT... and no that does not mean universal.
2 other expectable fluids are New Holland hydraulic fluid and Mystic JT6 fluid.

The filter is a High pressure filter, not an ordinary oil filter type.

There are several places to get them online if you don't want to get them from a dealer.

I say don't skimp on fluids, go with kubota UDT or SUDT2. I believe it only takes about 4 gallons, savings would be minimal. 5 gallons of UDT will run you under a hundred dollars. Hydrostatic transmissions can be picky when it comes to fluid.

bought a bucket of Super S fluid at the Kubota dealership....their recommendation for that old of a tractor...good guys saving me a few bucks:D....also a Kubota filter...fluid looked like chocolate milk...HST operates MUCH better...Not sluggist and dragging:)

also for the record....couldn't break the back bolts that hold the back screen filters under the foot rest with a 3ft cheater bar...took the back tires off....put the socket on my harbor freight electric 1/2" impact driver($40 ten years ago) and it came right off....no problem what so ever....file that in your memory bank;)

The manual says to replace the fluid every 200 hours. I have about that, but the fluid is still crystal clear. Do I change it anyway?

Being that your running a 30 year old tractor I would say if it's clean just change the filters.

If you haven't done so yet go to Kubotabooks.com and download the OPS manual, the WSM manual, and the Parts manual.
Look closely as there is several manuals some are for the older B7100 and some are for the 2wd model.

Thanks. I have the books. I'll change the filter. I don't think I can remove the strainers for cleaning without spilling fluid all over.
I didn't mean to hijack this thread. Sorry.

Just FYI - I recently bought a 91 B7100HST that wouldn't move because the suctions screens were sludged shut and the oil also looked like chocolate milk. I bought 3 filters from the dealer (and UDT) but went to Atwoods and bought a bucket of 303 for $25 and using that for my "flush fluid". I'll probably do two full flushes before switching to the UDT and new suction filters. I had a little metal in the old screens so wasn't sure what to expect. For a test with the 303 oil, I was able to haul my 16ft car hauler with small load of wood up a steep hill and the 3-point had no issues lifting it full height. I also want to stick a good magnet somewhere so I can keep an eye on pump wear.

Do as others have said, get the real stuff and DO NOT put a fram filter on there! AS Mr. Vic said in another post, the filter material matters - not to say that fram doenst make a good filter.....but get a Kubota filter and SUDT2 and see the difference. That ol commercial - pay now or pay later!!!!

that ol commercial played forrreeeever !!!! I heard it in my sleep, but never gave it much thought , till it was MY dollar being spent on the auto....

From a 1970's television commercial for FRAM oil filters which showed a ruined car engine and a mechanic who quipped: "You can pay me now, or you can pay me later." :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHug0AIhVoQ

sad thing is that fram has a bad rep when it comes to oil filters these days........:(
