im in the process of overhauling my b7100, i already drained the trans and replaced the suction screens on the side. when i went to take off the spin on filter on the top of the trans it was still full of fluid that now is covering my trans . is there another drain plug that i missed? are the screens in a seprate part then the spin on filter? i looked all over for another drain plug but cant find one.

Filters tend to hangup the oil. A little trick I use is to take a screwdriver and hammer and poke a hole in the top of the filter and it will then drain out. Make sure your vent is clear also.:)

If your B7100 is similar to my B7200 there should have been 3 drain ports plus the two screens. When I did mine the only fluid left in the filter area was within the reservoir the filter spins onto. there was a definet miniscus of fluid just waiting to over flow onto the tranny but I carefully placed paper towels around & in the area to soak it up.
The pic shows 2 of the 3 drains on mine. The 3rd drain being pointed at by the middle arrow can't be seen but it's in the same place (but opposite) as the right arrow.

thanks guys. the day after i posted this i went to kubota to pick some stuff up and i asked them. they told me theres no drain for it, the one crapy design ive found so far. they said they just stuff rags around it and spin it off as fast as they can.

Actually, it's not a crappy design; it's most likely done that way on purpose. Most automotive filters have check valves to keep the filter full of oil and the Hydro filter may be the same (I've never looked). You really don't want the filter to drain so the pump has to prime it every time you start the engine.

Or, are you just saying it could have been placed in a location that would have made changing it easier?

im just sayin kubota should have some how maby put it horizontally insted of vertically so when you take it off it dosent spill al over the tranny. i do understand the check valve tho just think they should have put a little more thought into the design. but who knows maby thats the only way they could do it.

Gotcha, it's been a while since I had my B7100 so I didn't remember. On my B7300 they have the filter horizontal and on the side of the tranny.
