Just a as the title says. I'm looking to make this one of my next attachments. Question is 4' or 5' ? Will the 5' be to much to handle? Anyone with experience with this scenario?

I have a B6100 2wd and I pull a 4ft box, sometimes depending on terrian I struggle a bit if its on a hillside. Other times I'm mostly on level ground and pull the 4ft box just fine and feel like I can pull a bit more. Sometimes I struggle every now and then breaking up hard ground with the teeth down also.

MHO get a good quality heavy built box scrape that will work properly and 4' is all your tractor will handle.

I have a L3000 which is double the hp of a 7100 and a 5 1/2' box is all I can handle when I'm really making it bite in and move material.

I agree- 4'. 5 may work, but you will undoubtably not be able to use it to its fullest potential. What's an extra foot, if you can't make use of it?

I have a B7100 with the originally issued 42" Gannon box blade, and based on it's performance, I would not go over 48". Get the heaviest, stoutest box blade you can afford, weight & strength really make a difference here.

Probably depends on your soil & planned uses. Out here the ground is so hard, compacted, & rocky I'm sure I would have trouble with a larger box blade.

But if your soil is soft, sandy, or free from rocks you can probably get away with something larger than 4 ft..... if you are only going to re-grade an existing gravel drive, or drag loose material to level low spots...... see what I mean?

You might get by dragging a wider box but you will never get the full potential out of it.

Myself I would rather have a 4' that worked as intended than a larger one that I got 50% use because the tractor can't pull it. In the end it's all up to you. I have a strong feeling that your 7100 will handle the 54" box fairly well almost every time you use it. When you really get to digging or have a full load of material there will be times it can't handle the load but for the most part you'll be fine. JMHO

Like I was saying in my post, sometimes I feel like 4 foot is little and I can pull a bigger box and other times I struggle and fit with it depending on the job. I look at it like this, anything I can do with a 4ft box sure beats the hell out of a shovel and a rake and is faster then I can anything I do by hand.

Is that a 4' box? What brand is that? I have turf tires so I think my tires are a little wider than yours, but that looks great. That's just my style, nice and clean.
