B7100 fluid

A friend of mine recently inherited 20 acres and an old Kubota b7100 (at least 28 years old). He asked me to take a look at it and see if i could get it running for him. After a new battery and ignition switch it started right up.

Now for the questions, what else does it need?

Is ISO 32 ok for replacing the hydraulic fluid?

Is 15-40 ok for the motor oil?

is 80-90 ok for the differentials?

what does the transmission take?

Any other maintenance that should be done?

If it is an older gear drive B7100, then Tx and hydraulic fluids are the same. Use Kubota UDT or one of the Universal tractor hydraulic fluids (most will indicate compatibility with Kubota UDT). I've been using Kubota 10W30 engine oil for years and it's good for most weather.

Hello, I am new to this so I apologize for the lack of knowledge, but that is why I am here!

I have a B7100 HST that has a fluid leak, it appears to maybe be coming from the hydraulic control lever (right side of seat) and it drips down around the right side of the rear diff. This makes it a bit hard to tell if the leak is coming from the hydraulics (control lever) or the trans (rear diff right side seal).

Im looking for some clarification on the following, is the hydraulic system separate from the trans fluid system? I know that the rear diff and trans are the same system and use the same fluid, same fill and drain plugs, does this also apply to the hydraulic system or does the hydraulic system have its own fill, drain plugs and filter?

On the HST the system is all one. On the left hand side near the bottom of the case is the suction and filter for the HST, on the right hand side is the suction and filter for the "hydraulic system." The part that you are talking about is the supply for the 3 pt system. There is a copper washer on either side of the fitting. A replacement can be had from Advance Auto... I did it a few days ago.

filter, dont replace the screen, clean it well - unless it is somehow is really mess up (unlikely)...... replace washer too if need be.

By suction, I mean from the sump to the pump.

Awesome thank you! Anyone have any insight to what the leak might be? hard to tell, i am going to clean the whole area and try to isolate where it is coming from. But if someone knows a trend with this tractor maybe it will help me focus in on something?

I must not have been clear, I bet it is coming from the lever and that is where the washers go. As you pointed out, the leak will run down and that is likely since it is on a pressure line. A leak from a suction line will be a slow drip, a pressure line will either be a more forceful drip or a spray.

Mine was leaking there the other day....
