I recently had to move about 40 yards of dirt when I started to notice what I believe are clutch issues, mainly in reverse gear. Sometimes, while in reverse with the clutch out, the tires won't spin and the engine is not bogging down. This was most evident when I was trying to use my bucket to pull dirt out that spilled into my ditch. I first noticed this a few weeks ago, so I took the clutch pedal linkage apart and made an adjustment (per the manual) to assure I had some clutch free play. It worked for another day, but then I noticed the same thing again.
The tractor seems to be fine in the forward gears, except for a harsher, more abrupt engagement than how it used to be. I have only noticed this in reverse and when the clutch does engage, I can feel a shudder. When a clutch is worn, does it normally show up with the reverse gear first? Could it be something else besides the clutch?
I have it going to the dealer Saturday morning, but wanted to pick the experts brain first? Thanks!!
