Where is the releif valve for hydro? making to much pressure swelling filter and blows seal under filter.
Filter should be on low pressure, pump intake side, if it's blowing out you might have a far larger problem on your hands. My guess (it could be wrong) is you're getting backpressure from the pump into the intake side under certain conditions.

My gut feeling is a check valve is malfunctioning, likely in the first spool control set downstream from the pump. Again, I could be completely wrong here, I am not a hydraulics expert by any stretch.

If your talking about the HST filter under the cover in the middle it sounds like you have an HST issue and not a hydralic issue.

Big Kahuna brings up a good point.
Are you using a stock Kubota filter?
And what # filter are you using?

Could be a bad filter too. I had a vendor switch who was making there filters. They switched from using a company in the usa and started out sourcing to mexico. The filters made in mexico had a ratio of 4 bad to 1 good. Come to find out the threads were cut a little cockeyed causing the base to not seat correctly to the base. Some of those filters would pop the rubber gasket on top when the engines were started and make a huge mess. :(

Over tightneing the filter can cause them to split also
