B7001e Just refuses to start !

Got ourselves a little orange tractor. Guy we bought it from told us, "It is hard to start" .... Not wrong - It will not start!
He said he has just had the injectors replaced. We pulled out the glow plugs and found one perished, so have replaced all 3 with new ones... Still won't start.
Turns over, winds up, puffs smoke, really tries to start, I mean tries its' heart out to start, but just can't....
We really want our "Little Roudy Tractor" up and running.
Can anyone point us in the right direction? Please Help....

With a voltmeter or test light, see if you are getting current to the glow plugs when the switch is turned to the glow position.

Yes, we are. Have already checked that. Fuel is also getting through.

You should perform a compression test at this point.

+1 on the compression test and confirming the operation of the glow plugs. When you say "fuel is also getting through" Do you mean the entire fuel circuit, from tank to the top of the injectors?

X2. Loosen the lines and crank over to ensure fuel is getting to each injector.

You may already know this: do not let some drongo talk you into using starter fluid! This engine will not handle it and likely to cause engine damage.

Cylinder compression test will tell if that is a problem. Fuel is the second. Third is heat; both from compression and glow plugs. And assumes that air is getting to cylinders at right time.

Yes....NO STARTER FLUID OR ETHER!
However, your wifes’ hair dryer pointed continuously into the intake during the start attempt may encourage it....
You wrote “it puffs smoke”... What COLOR smoke?

First thing we did was replace the fuel to ensure it was fresh and checked that it was getting to the injectors. Happy to report that this is all AOK

Thanks for the heads up on the starter fluid.... Definitely do not want to do any more damage.
It is pretty warm here in Queensland, Australia. Not sure if we need to warm it up any more than what the glow plug is doing?/

Will take a video to give some more information for your other questions.....
Am yet to do a compression test due to no time at present

Well........ Did a compression test and not good news

1 chamber is reading 250 psi
2 chambers reading 0 psi (Yes, that is a zero)
Looks like the poor little tractor needs more work than we were hoping for

Unless any of you smart people have other ideas as to why this would happen.

Remove your rocker cover and see if you don't have a problem there. Could be someone has incorrectly adjusted the valve lash, have bent pushrods, or a broken rocker shaft.
If the 2 cylinders with no compression are next to each other, there is also a strong possibility that you have a failed cylinder head gasket.

Thanks @whitetiger Looks like we have a blown head gasket!
We are now on the hunt for a gasket kit. If we are going to replace one, may as well do them all. They all look a bit dodgy anyway. Think the guy we bought it off liked to tinker but not in the good way, just to get him by way.

Maybe a good idea to wet test the cylinder with 250 psi. (Small amount of oil.) If the pressure increases, then there may be ring problems also.

As white tiger suggests, best to check valve lash before tearing apart.
