New to this fourm and I know this has been covered before but haven't seen a specific answer. Just bought an old b6200 hydro. With a great bend front loader. The hydros are slow, very slow. And the three point hitch is also slow and pretty much unresponsive if rpms are below 2000-2500. I've read about checking the relief valve but have no idea where to look for it. Can someone here help me out ? I do plan on doing a fluid/filter change eventually but would like to see if the relief valve is the problem. I do not hear a difference in sound when the bucket hits the stop so that makes me thing fluid might be making its way past the valve. Any Info would be great. Also are there any service manuals available for free on line somewhere ?

Is the loader running off the same pump as the three point?
You can download both the operators manual and the service manual at Kubotabooks.com

It sound more like a pump that's tired than a bypass problem, but then again a plugged up filter will also give you the same issues! ;)

Thanks for the info. I'm hoping the pump isn't weak. Tractor has 1300 hrs on it. With any luck it's just the filter. I guess there is a screen or two somewhere too, I'll have to do some research to find out where they are and how it get to them.

I believe the loader is on the same hydraulic system as the three point hitch but I'm not totally positive of that.

Thank you Vic. I've been doing some searching through the fourm and found a couple of your replies to similar questions. Everything I've read here has been very helpful since I'm a rookie in the tractoring world. On a seperate note, I've heard the kubota hydro fluid is expensive, is there a cheaper oil out there that will perform the same in my old machine? Or would it be best to stick to the kubota stuff ?

Quagmire, there are several brands like Wal-Mart and Tractor Supply that CLAIM to be compatible with Kubota UDT...however some of them smell and look completely different (while others appear to be identical at least from look and smell)..

In all honesty, the amount of work you will get done with your machine for the 300hrs the manual recommends between hydro fluid service (some NEVER change the fluid!!!!) its not worth messing around and saving a few bucks. If it was designed to run UDT and you put UDT in it, then you have better odds of your HST and pump lasting as long as possible. I wonder about people that complain about HST or pumps failing and if they had some crappy other fluid in there, or never changed it to begin with.

Just my $.02, I would stick with UDT from Kubota.

Thanks for the advise. I agree totally with you and will go to the dealer and get the recommended filters and fluids. I was just reading some posts where people say with the older models it doesn't really matter. It's not until you get into the newer models with all the fancy shifting stuff and the higher rpm hydrostatic models that the super udt shines. I think if I didn't go with the kubota stuff and it didn't perform like I think it should it would always be in the back of my mind that I screwed up by going the cheaper way.

Like I said, I'm new to this compact tractor world. I've run heavy equipment and done some wrenching on big stuff. But that was 15 years ago (or more) when I was in high school / college. This is a whole different world than the 50,000# loaders and 40,000# excavators I've played with.

So, today when I got home from work I drained the hydro fluid and cleaned the two mesh screens. They weren't bad but i cleaned them anyways. Didn't change the top canister spin on filter because the dealer was closed by the time I got out of work. I'll go tomorrow and grab one and slap it on. Upon initial start up it seemed the hydraulics were very responsive but the more I ran the bucket and three point hitch the slower it got. And that was for only two or so minutes. Once I checked the level and put the tools away I took it out and did some work. It might be wishful thinking but they seemed a little better but certainly not the miracle fix I hoped it would be. Could the canister filter make much of a difference ? And if not, what would be my next thing to check. Hoping to hear Vic's take on this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
