When I got the B6200, the steering box was off the tractor and the ball nut on the steering shaft had lost (shattered) half of it teeth. I ordered an aftermarket steering shaft and ball nut. Kubota parts were no longer available. The new shaft and nut were for a B6200. When I got it, I found the shaft was 21-3/8" long and the shaft that came as a loose part with my tractor was 17-13/16" long. Both ends look the same. I also found that the B7100 shaft is 18-5/8" long. What I think I found out is that the steering shaft for the B6200HST-E is different than the B6200D. I am down now to either shortening the shaft, meaning cutting 3-9/16" out of the shaft and welding it back together. Or, order the B7100 shaft and nut and live with the steering wheel being 13/16" taller. I tried moving the ball nut from the new shaft to the shaft that came with the tractor. If you have never done this, it is an exercise in patience. The ball nut has 54 balls that have to be removed to get the nut off the shaft and re-installed on the other shaft. It worked, but I found the other shaft has indention on the shaft race probably caused by where the balls ride in the the straight forward position. Anyway, it isn't as smooth as I would like it, but probably most people would not notice it. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? By the way, Kubota does sell the total gear box and shaft for $916.75, but not the shaft and ball nut part.
