I have never owned a tractor but am looking at buying a B6200. I took a friend who has a kuboata with me to look at it but we couldnt get the tractor to shift into 4x4. The shifter wont budge. Is there a procedure that needs to be done when shifting from 2x4 to 4x4? The owners manual didnt specify anything that i could find. Any thoughts?

There is no specific procedure, it is a simple shifting arrangement. These do get seized up periodically from disuse. It may be necessary to spray antiseize on the linkage and where it goes into the tractor.

Yes, you should be able to shift it almost anytime. It is easier to shift if the tractor is rolling though because the gears won't necessarily line up until they turn a bit. You should be able to move the lever some though even if it doesn't full engage. If you cannot move it at all then it likely is that the shift linkage is seized up.
