Hi all again... this is the same B6100HST I asked about in the earlier B6100 HST problems post.

But this time I have a specific question. This tractor came to me with the trans cooler removed and a simple hydra hose in its place. It is unknown how long it was operated this way. I fully expect the HST was run hot. It appears its primary duty was mowing with a 48" deck. 1200 hrs (supposedly).

Question is... what exact damage would this have likely done? Trying to figure out what probabilities to look for.

Thanks, Dave

Thanks Vic.

Already did the generic cooler... but I was glad to hear "OK w/o it", but you know it would have run hotter.... maybe just mowing didn't hurt it then. Doesn't appear it ever had a FEL. It will eventually...

Were just having troubles figuring out why its acting the way it is without opening it up. May not have a choice. Will see what the pressure tests say. I may write you back with those results.

Normal operating like mowing is not going to overheat the tranny but not knowing the history of the tractor is a problem.
It is correct that heat is a killer of hydro trannies but it does take some serious pulling to really get them hot. I beleive the critical temp is somewhere in the 180-200*F range. Basically if it is too hot for your hand then it is too hot for your tranny. High grade oil helps in those conditions.
