B6100D Removed lift cylinders

Removed the lift cylinders and it will be a while before I get the new ones,

Meanwile I am fixing oil leaks on the engine. I'm wondering if I can still run the engine if I put the valve in float position so it would recirculate the fluid to the reservoir without spewing out the open ends,
The tilt cylinders are still are connected. I removed the pump but it would be a big job removing the shaft from the crankshaft pully as it is on there with a chain,
This would be to run the engine only short periods of time.

To remove the shaft from the front of the crank you don't need to do anything from the chain coupling, just pull the coupling off the crank.

And no you would leave the valve alone, if you don't move it fluid will not go to the cylinders.

Wolfman Could I have run the engine without removing the pump as long as I don't touch the levers? I was afraid it oil would have come out the open lines.

Yes you can run it with the pump on as long as you don't engage the lever to send fluid to the individual cylinder lines.

Thank you Wolfman. I can now put the pump back and continue working on the rest of it while I wait for the cylinders.
