I have kubota B6000E with woods 304k belly mower. It' belt driven off the front PTO. After looking at the assembly diagram from germanBliss equipment.com, and every picture i could find of the b6000E with the woods 304k mower, i cannot for the life of me figure out how to route the belt and I'm not sure i even have the pulleys mounted right....please someone help if you have any info at all!

There will be two belts. One on the mower deck and another from the engine pulley to the deck.

There is one location where there are two pulleys stacked on top of each other. One for the deck belt and the top for the belt from the engine.

Did you know this?

If you take a top view photo so I can see all pulleys in one clear picture I will try and help you figure out the deck belt routing.

Who decided on the belt? i.e. its length etc

Go to Kubotabooks.com and download the very top of the list mower's literature a B-425.

B-425

If it is not your mower with a Kubota model number it is very similar.

Look at figure 8. Not the big illustration but the small one showing the V belt routing.

If you are serious about receiving help you need to answer all questions put to you otherwise you give people like me an incomplete set of facts from which to work. It then becomes not the best use of time.

The belt i had originally is completely wrong, it's way too long, it says B172 on it i believe. The website did not have my mower listed in the diagrams. The belt routing diagram you shared a picture of doesn't look like it could be for mine, all my pulleys seem to use the v side of the belt, but i still looked at the full diagram (B-425) it's not my same mower.

Won't this work? It appears to be a mirror image of Dave_eng's. Maybe reverse rotation? When you put the red belt on, the tensioner should move as shown in purple (this is the first time I've tried to insert an image so I hope it works)

What about the belt to drive the mower? The one from the engine pulley.

Was the mower ever working during your ownership?

Any belt for a mower needs to have a P in the number. The P standing for Kevlar belting.

BP172 if it was the correct belt would last much longer than a B172.

To imagine a proper belt routing, I cannot do it from the photos you have provided as there is not a complete deck top to visualize.

The owner says all pulleys are for the V side of the belt so your proposed routing using the tensioner on the back side of the bel. t does not fit. Assuming the correct pulley is on the tensioner

That looks like the route that would work but i'm really thinking i have my outer pulleys upside down, because when you look at them from the side they line up with the bottom section of the double pulley in the middle

I would expect the deck belt to be closest to the deck. BTW the GermanBliss parts shows a 148" belt.
But before we go any further, you need to tell us:
When, how long, what condition did you get this mower? Has it ever worked on your tractor? What did the seller tell you about it? What all have you done to it? Then, look at the blades, all 3 of them. Looking from above, do they turn clockwise or counterclockwise to cut? And are the bolts (is there just one bolt per blade?) that hold the blades right or left-hand? Get these answers and we'll go from there.

Sorry guys I got things screwed up inserting that image.
Dave, I agree that the idler/tensioner looks wrong. From OP's pictures it looks like a v-groove and the GermanBliss parts description calls out B groove (4" I think). But I don't see any way NOT to tension it on the backside. I'm thinking he'll need to get a flat idler, but I'm trying to figure the rest out first. Unless I'm looking at it wrong, with the idler on that side this thing needs to turn counterclockwise. I'm trying to figure out if somebody could have put it back together backwards, but I don't think so.

I got this mower with the tractor when i purchased it but it was in pieces with "all the parts"....I'm quite certain now that i have the wrong idler pulley. It has to be a B groove. The blades do turn counter clockwise.

The blades are each held on by 1 bolt. They thread normal, no reverse threads. I have never had this thing working.

So the blades are sharpened on the leading edge for turning counterclockwise? Can you post a picture underneath of a blade and blade coupling? Seems that the bolt should be left handed.

I'd suggest on the first picture posted by the OP, as you have the belt laying there pick up the piece of it running from pulley to pulley and bring it up and over the idler pulley. Now the back side of the belt is riding on the idler pulley. Then the remainder of the belt comes to the front and over the drive pulley. The belt may have small pulleys up front to guide it after it leaves the crankshaft pulley. The belt may cross over itself at these small pulleys.

Poconoguy provided two pdf pages for a mower where the drive belt crossed over itself.

The owner with a problem found his blades turning backwards.

Crossing the drive belt solved his problem.

Here is a link to the Thread:

Drive belt

The post material also points out that the deck drive pulley is tension adjusted by one of the idlers which turns the belt from vertical to horizontal.

I think we're dealing with 2 belts.

Dave/OP,
I've studied some more. Ignore my sketch and use Dave's first diagram. The blades have to turn clockwise, looking from the top. The deck belt will go in the bottom groove of the double pulley. The spindle sheaves, the bottom groove of the double pulley, and the idler groove should be in alignment. The idler pulley should be flat for the back of the belt. I don't think this belt will be anywhere close to 148 or 172 inches long. You can run a rope around it then measure the rope and get close. Allow for the tensioner.

Then the drive belt should run like Dave's diagram with the crossover to make it turn clockwise.

Dave, am I on the right track?
EDIT: to be clear, a 148 belt is 48" long, not 148".

I think you are on the right track especially now that we know the mower was not running when the tractor was acquired so who knows what pulley changes were made.

The 148 belt will be 148" long on the outside circumference.

The mower deck is 44" wide and the belt is crossing the width of the deck (minus a bit for 1/2 blade width) more than twice so belt must be more than 48".

For comparison, a 48" wide cub cadet mower deck belt is an AP103 and is 103", a Landpride 72" mower has a BP158 belt.

This youtube video is a good guide to measuring V belt length.

Thanks Dave. I had seen pocono's thread and it had me thinking CCW - too late last night. But this morning I relooked and thought can't be, the grass would have to discharge on the left, etc. And that idler, the Woods parts just has to be wrong. The only way I can see it working is if the belt was double-v. I've only seen pictures and I find it hard to believe that's what was used.

Ok OP, it's up to you. Keep us updated.
