B6000-Wet or Dry Liner...how do I tell

I feel realy humble asking this, but how can I tell if it is a wet or dry liner. I think it is wet because the parts diagram shows gaskets...but I also am wishing they are wet because this should be easier.

If it is wet, the cyclinders do not need to finished after it is installed correct?

I purchased this little gem with a cracked air filter oil bath and the bore is worn from the dirt that the poor girl ate.

Thanks guys!

Dry liner...sorry. They need to be pressed out and the new ones pressed in and then bored to the proper size. Lots of info about this on the site.:D

It's possible but most of Kubota engines are built the same way and the majority seem to be the thin wall dry liner type. Though I did find a thread where AquaForce thought they could be either so maybe you're right. I'm not sure Rob (the guy AquaForce was replying to) ever opened up his motor, either way he hasn't been on in almost a month.

If it's the thin wall dry liner I'm not sure there's enough material there to bore the liners out. Besides you'd have to get custom pistons made, they don't sell oversize. With that style of liner the only option that makes sense is new liners, rings, and pistons.

The reason they don't sell over sized pistons is because you cannot bore the old liners. They are very thin to begin with. You must replace them and then have them bored to the proper size.

Kubota does sell over size pistons. A D950, for example, is designed to be bored once. The piston is +0.5 mm and the rings are also +0.5mm.

Get a parts manual for your engine and look to see what's available or, at least, what was once available.
