Leafy England....
you'll need to remove any bodywork thats fitted, remove the bulkhead plate, drain down and remove the radiator, remove the front axle & subframe assembly from the engine, disconnect the two hydraulic lines from the pump on the engine , and disconect any electrics /cables, disconnect the throttle linkage and fuel line that may be applicable on your particular machine.

remove all the bolts holding the the engine backplate to the clutch bellhousing and thats about it, you should then be able to pull the complete engine with auxillary parts fitted away from the back end, no need to touch the back end.
they are quite heavy for a small engine so you'll need some decent trolley jacks etc or an overhead gantry/winch setup to get it separted safely.
make sure you support the the clutch housing well to prevent the whole lot falling down whilst pulling the motor free.

this is a brief explanantion, it will all be clear as you go through it step by step.

hope that helps.

Why do you need to unhitch the front end of the engine to do the clutch?

This I understand

THIS sounds like the work!
this is a brief explanation
We shall see how much more I can elaborate next weekend to your comments!

If you are only doing the clutch you could probably get away with just disconnecting the relavant linkages etc and electrics inc the steering drag link rod, and split split the front at the bellhousing , if you can get to the fixing bolts on the top of the bellhousing, its a struggle putting to say the least.
Also you'll need more than two hands to get it back together, and it will be a right pain , much quicker to remove any surplus parts, and makes it way lighter to work with to do the job, it depends on how much you want to split it down and to do what work, engine rebuild or just smaller repairs.

A guy i know took twice the time to do his clutch than it took me to take out the whole lump and replace the clutch and a few other parts, and he was struggling to get it back together properly.

just my experience on my own kit.....its a personal things i supose.

Why are you doing a rebuild? On tractor forums I have seen many times where someone rebuilt the engine to find the real problem was something simple. Ask yourself, "if I can't figure out how to pull the engine, how am I going to know what to do when I tear it down?"

sorry about the delay been busy. I have never worked on a tractor before but just about every make and model car and truck, i just didnt wanna do something wrong and mess anything up on it.
I need some help on finding new piston, rings and sleeves for it. The machine shop that has my motor has confirmed they were bad but is having a problem locating them anywhere other than a dealer. Dealer price for parts was $4500.00!!!!!

Were you quoted directly from the dealer or did this come from the machine shop?

I don't believe it, not even close, I know dealer prices are high.......but no way.

the number on the block is zl600
Yeah that top one is a z602......I dont' know what the difference is but the distributor would.

I know someone who resleeved a 3 cyl a couple of years ago and the parts from Kubota was $1700 IIRC.

If I could not get pistons, rings, sleeves, bearings and gaskets from the dealer for under $2k...........I'd be looking for alternatives.

they are looking see if they have any aftermarkets out there, but what im seeing ill have to replace the motor. im not sure if it would be a good ideal to use after market or not or if its even worth buying a new motor. thanks for the links on the new motors

Taking this one into a different direction.

Will an engine from a B6000E go into a B6000DT, basically is the engine block the same on both the 2WD and 4WD tractors for axle/frame mounts and bell housing pattern? Has anyone done the transformation, and what issues did you have?

I don't have the answer, but I think that over time that more guys will be looking to know if this is a possible solution to replace an engine from a less desirable tractor for less money than an engine rebuild.

All B6000's run the same power plant ( well if original fitment that is) they use a ZL600.
2wd or 4wd makes no difference, the engine power plant is a ZL600, there are 2 other power plants that i know of that will also fit the B6000 ( i have messed about with them) with a little tinkering, otherwise a good alternative to the ZL 600.
