Hi all,

New to OTT and new to tractor ownership. I got a great deal on a B5200D last summer and have been fixing it up / performing overdue maintenance on it while learning A LOT in the process. I'm getting it ready for summer work by draining the hydraulic fluid and replacing the filter. I noticed that the return line is plumbed to the top of the transmission case (see attached photo). Is this the way it's supposed to be? I bought a repair manual off of eBay and I thought that this hole was used for topping up the hydraulic fluid? I used a funnel while hanging the line off lip to try and figure out if this was a supply or return line. It was a bit messy to say the least.

Thanks for the help!

That would be "standard" for a tractor with front loader.

Thanks Dan! Is there a way to add fluid (if necessary) without removing this line?
I font know that model super well but probably not. Yhat looks like DIYVplumbkng but its not badly done.
  1. Remove the swivel attached the transmission case adapter . Its JIC and made to unscrew.
  2. Then remove the straight adspter that is screwed into the filler port. THats BSPP with a sealing washer like a standard oil pan plug.
AT that point its easy to add oil and repkace the fitting.

Reviving this thread from last year as I replace/rework the hydraulic lines. Can anyone confirm if the thread in the case is 1/2" BSPP? I think it is based on various threads/Google searches.

I dont know for a fact but my guess would be 3/8 BSPP. Measure the OD of the thread on the plug.
