I gave my faithful Kubota B5200 tractor its Spring refresher, new filters, clean the lines etc. Now for some reason the pull knob that normally stops the engine no longer works. The small lever that attaches to the knob pulls full over, so it is not a loose cable issue. i assume the control is some kind of fuel cutoff.
Any help.

Are you sure that is NOT a decompression knob that should not be used to stop the engine? Does it have a picture that looks something like a piston in a cylinder?

.There is normally something connected to the fuel system that is used to shut the engine down. Is this connected to something at the front of the valve cover or something on the injection pump?

Ya, like Russel said, that push pull is a valve decompression. Helps get it to cranking speed, then is released so it can fully compress and ignite.
The throttle lever should kill the engine when maxed past idle position.

There are two pull cables on the dash. One to the left of the column is decompress and one to the right is engine stop. All the stop cable does is pull the fuel shutoff lever on the right side of the engine. Check the adjustment to make sure the cable has no pulled partially out of the clamping screw. on the lever. You can operate the lever by hand to verify it is working.
