B3350 Stalling (Regeneration)

I have a new B3350 (less than 11 hours of operation). Two days ago I drove the thing in high gear (2wd) for 1 mile with forks and a brush hog attached to it (PTO not in operation) to go move a 300 pound cooler. I lifted the cooler no problem, drove the tractor 40 feet with it on the forks, and lifted it another foot to get it into the bed of a pickup truck.

This is when the tractor stalled. It began flashing its regeneration light and wouldn't let me start it up even after waiting for 30+ minutes. I ended up having to push this thing out of the road to get it out of traffic.

It starts now, and the hydraulics work just like normal. I've read around, and it seems to be that there is an issue with the regeneration function on this model. I've called to have the tractor serviced, but I don't want to get screwed into paying for something "not within warranty" if this is a known issue.

Does anyone have any advice on the matter or have any experience with this issue on the B3350? Additionally, through what I told you, can anyone seem to determine whether or not I was operating the tractor incorrectly?

Any/all advice is welcome.

Thanks,

Dan

I think it is well within the regeneration issue problems, and you should get your dealer involved to come and fix it under warranty. Unless you had it in "inhibit regen" mode for some time, it should have allowed you to regenerate it when the light started to flash. Doesn't sound like your use is at fault.

Oh no.... Another one!

Call your Dealer, get it in, get all computer upgrades and software done. This model has an overly complex DPF system that Kubota has been tinkering with since it first rolled off the line.

Thanks for the input. I have a guy coming from the dealer today and suggested that there may need to be some upgrades to the software. He seemed unaware of this issue; I'll take that with a grain of salt.

I'm relatively new at my organization, and I think I figured out what triggered the regeneration in the first place. We had this tractor sitting for a few months before I ever was hired, and no one used it ever. It's maybe had two full tanks of diesel in it over the course of six months. I think regeneration kicked in to clean out some month's old settlement.

The lock-out, on the other hand, seems to be more computer related to me now that I've done a little more digging around. However, one potential reason the tractor stalled in the first place was because I may have been running on too low of an RPM. I was sitting at about half throttle and wasn't paying attention to the fact that during regeneration i need to be at 3/4 to full.

Will update with any further progress.

Thanks for the replies.

Dan, the b3350 is particularly unforgiving of operators that don't follow directions to a t, and may still cause trouble even if you do. My suggestion is, since it sounds like more than one person might use this tractor, that you get the operators manual and xerox the pages that relate to regeneration and keep the copies in the pocket in back of the seat for reference. That way you and anyone that runs it will have the information on what to do if a light blinks or a buzzer sounds. One ignores these at one's own peril. :eek
