Have a B2910HSD that overheats quite quickly. Uses coolant quickly as well but I cannot find any leaks. Have flushed the coolant system, power washed the radiator, changed all the fluids and filters. Oil is clean with no sign of a “milkshake” present. Exhaust looks normal as well with no white smoke indicating that fluid is getting burned off. Normally use this tractor to pull a 150 galllon sprayer. Any ideas?

Leave the radiator cap off, start engine, watch fluid for bubbles, possible cracked head. You can buy testers as well to check the gas in the radiator for the presence of combustion gas, others on the forum will know where to get in the US.

Hopefully you have a blown head gasket - to heat THAT fast.....either head gasket,(what you are hoping for) or as mentioned a cracked head....not what you wish for;)

So I got a block test kit. Ran the tractor at idle for 45 minutes...block test was negative. Repeated just to make sure. Ran again after running the tractor about 2 miles.....again the block test was negative. After about 4 hours in 95 F heat running a bush hog, the tractor did not overheat but still used about 3 pints of coolant. When at idle you can smell coolant. Still see no physical leaks and can***8217;t figure out where the coolant is going.

I would double check to see if the kit is made for diesel.

Overheating and disappearing coolant without a trace... I would check/replace the gasket before it really overheats and cracks the cylinder head. No guarantee that it is not already cracked, need to get a visual on that. Then it gets pricey.

I did double check the kit: it is a NAPA universal block test that says for diesel I should get a yellow green color. I read in another blog that these radiators plug at the bottom. I am going to vinegar flush and see if it improves. Maybe I am just boiling over first before the temp gauge goes up. This tractor was left on a property I bought and I do not think it was well cared for. The overflow containers had solid material in about 1/2 of it when I started which is why I flushed first

That material in the overflow container may be someone's fix for the problem you're trying to isolate. They dumped in some stop leak.

I'd suggest to remove the radiator and have it flushed. Simple to do and won't cost much. Even if it doesn't not solve the issue, you will know that is not the problem.

Run it for a very short time and check around the pulleys and belts for any moisture, it sounds like it could be a leaking paterpump seal, that will sling fluid and because of the fan will dry fairly quickly. ;)

Your next best bet is a leaking head gasket.
