I have to remove a panel below the seat to access the power beyond line to replace it. The panel seems easy to remove but I'm having trouble with removing the two knobs. One is the 3pt lowering speed and the upper one is the suspension adjustment knob. I don't see any type of set screw holding them on (but my eyesight isn't what it used to be) and have oiled them to hopefully help in the removal. I've tried pulling off by hand with no success. I am just curious if anyone has done this, my next step will be tapping with a hammer but I really don't want to break them.

The seat knob is held on a roll pin, I would suggest you might just be better off removing the seat and /or seat suspension.

The three point control I do believe is a threaded knob, use a pair of vice grips to hold the knob and turn the knob counter clockwise to unthread it.

Thanks Wolfman, I'll check into your suggestions. The 3pt knob didn't seem to me that it was threaded because it had one flat edge on the shaft going into it. Seeing that, I just figured it was pressed or had a set screw or something, so I didn't try twisting it off. I'll definitely double check that with a mirror.

I think the panel will come off without removing the seat knob, there may be just enough room to slip it out. From where I can see the fitting I have to get to, it looks like it is right there behind the panel. It never crossed my mind about removing the seat, I just figured they would put it an "accessible area".

You dont have to remove the seat knob, just the 3pt lower rate knob. I take a long prybar and hit it with a hammer on the backside of the knob, should pop off.

The 3pt knob popped right off with a little persuasion. I tried removing the panel with the seat knob still attached and ended up cracking it :(. I don't know if it was my own dumb fault or if the plastic is just brittle from being exposed to the sunlight for 14 yrs. I'm thinking a combo of the two because it didn't take much pressure to crack.

On the plus side, the PB hose fitting is right there and easy to get at . I ordered a new panel and a spring pin for the seat knob in case I have to remove it. I'm thinking I'll just trim out around the seat knob of the new panel to make it easy in the future. I should have heated up the panel a bit with a hair dryer or heat gun before attempting removal. Ohh well, one can always learn from a mistake :D.
