B2781A blower lubrication

Just got the above front mount blower for my 2620. Hopefully I won't need to use it for a few months yet.
As I went over the manual I noted that you are supposed to lube the chain every 4 hours or so. I have plenty of bar oil so that is no problem.....my problem is where the second (botton) bolt is located for the chain guard. Guess I am thinking that I will run with just one (top) bolt for the guard so I can easily get at the chain.
Anyone else have the same observation or another solution?

Get a can of motorcycle chain lube and spray it with that. It don't fly off and lasts a long time. I do mine no more than twice a winter and the chain looks great.

Great idea......There is a Harley shop in Portland that ought to have chain lube.

It's not hard to find, auto parts stores, farm type stores and even wally world carries it around here.

I rode for a few years and I never found a motorcycle chain lube I really liked. Most of them are either very thin and seem to evaporate very quickly or once they dry turn sticky and collect dirt like fly paper. Not sure how much of an issue this is running in that enclosure but for the last season I just ran regular gear oil on my bike chains. There's lots of snake oil out there under the guise of chain lube. None of them seemed to stay wet longer than 4-500 miles which is was what my manuals recommended for gear oil. Keeping them clean (the less dust on it the better) and lubed regularly is the key to keeping them alive.

I don't think he'll find much dust to deal with blowing snow. I've been using chain lube on my various blowers for over 16 years and it works for me. It was just a suggestion, everyone's free to do their own thing.

Oh it's a snow blower. Doi I was thinking a leaf blower. Agreed, if it works for you do it, just offering other opinions.
