Sold BX25D within 12 hours of listing it on CL. Now looking for a 2650 cab model. Nobody local has one so I'm taking a road trip tomorrow. It's still in the crate but I want to be able to at least sit inside the cab to get a feel for it.
I'm 6'2" and have a bad back. I need to know if the cab will be cramped before I drop $36k on this thing. I'm bummed that I'll be losing the comfy swivel seat for the backhoe but air and heat are the main reasons I'm upgrading.
Anything else I should check while I'm there? TIA

Let the dealer assemble it before taking the road trip.

You cannot learn much until it is assembled.

Is the cab not assembled in the crate? I'm not worried about tractor operation, just fit, placement and comfort.

I saw mine still in crate or shortly thereafter, and the cab was part of it. I think you could sit in it, but you need to drive it to be sure. There are a fair number of adjustments that can be made to seat. I found the angle for raising and lowering the 3 pt made the lever feel annoyingly stiff, but I discovered if I raised the armrest it was better. I have opposite problem 5' 3", 130lbs, barely enough to keep the seat switch happy.

I'm 6'1 and around 225# and happened to sit in the 2650 cab model just yesterday. Plenty roomy for me. The headspace is good, they actually raise it above you, but then lowers once it gets in front of you where the vents are, etc. I thought the layout was nice, didn't feel small to me at all. But definitely, 100% get in one yourself to feel it out before dropping that much on one!

Thanks guys,
I was very happy with the BX25 for 4 years but I want air and heat now. Looks like $5-$8k to piece together a cab, heater and a/c. None of which would have much warranty.
We're moving up to a larger property, which means more/larger implements... so X+Y= upgrade one size tractor and get the factory cab version. One company builds it and that company stands behind all the components.

After 2 previous Kubotas I'm confident operation of the 2650 will be fine. I've done tons of reading and about the only complaint I've seen is for hydro whine inside the cab. I wear ear plugs anyway.

My test drive right now will consist of me sitting in the cab/crate making "vroom vroom" sounds and reaching for all the levers. :D
Dealer told me not to worry about bringing any money until it's ready to pick up in 2 weeks. These things seem to be pretty hot right now so even if the bottom fell out of this deal I doubt he'd be sitting on it very long.

I went from a BX2370 to the B2650HST for some of the same reasons, the biggest was for winter snow blowing in the winter.

I am 6' 5" and fit fine, it is a little awkward getting in but once in plenty of room.

Well, the "crate" consists of the complete tractor sans wheels/tires, taillights, fender flares etc. sitting on a metal skid. Likely to keep it at/under 48" so they can fit 2 side by side on the delivery truck.
As somebody mentioned, ingress/egress is 8/10 but once inside it's very roomy and comfortable. Plenty of vents in the hvac system so I shouldn't have to decide between heat on me or blowing on the windows to de-fog them. I'm optimistic that the front wiper sweep will be high enough to clear my field of view (couldn't test that). Basically...it's on like Donkey Kong! Just waiting for the backhoe subframe and unit assembly.

Side note 1: I'd asked them about forks and grapple. The Land Pride forks look fine but I didn't care for the grapple. I need more bottom tine for occasional rock bucket use. EA here I come. Hope shipping doesn't kill me as I'm WAY outside their 1000 mile zone.

Side note 2: they happened to have a BX with a Curtis Cab out front so I sat in that too. Very nice cab for what it is but
-the BX sized cab is borderline claustrophobic to me. YMMV
-the Curtis has only a couple vents for the heater and the a.c.controls would be on the roof with other vents/controls (this unit didn't have the a.c. roof).
-the visibility out of the Kubota B cab is miles beyond the Curtis on the BX. The B is 90% glass. The Curtis is about 65%.
- I didn't pay attention to how much of the Curtis was flat glass. That can make a big cost savings difference over curved glass should one ever get broken. The local glass shop can make a replacement flat glass window.
-I noticed lose seals and gaps in a couple places on the Curtis. I'm a picky bastard...I admit it. The Kubota fit very well but I'm sure Kubota spent a good bit more on development.
-In short, the Curtis is a great cab if you want to add to an existing tractor or have a BX series. If you're like me and due for a new tractor anyway then take a serious look at the B cab versions.
