I have a snow blower that takes a #70060-01337 shear pin. I see that kubota's shear pins have the lines on them to shear at a certain point. I also see that on certain sites it looks like they are selling a regular bolt as a shear pin (no lines). What's the difference?

Also I was told you can just run a grade 5 bolt as a shear pin. Is this correct?

It is not safe to assume that a grade 5 bolt is safe to use as a shear pin unless it is clearly so stated in the implement Operator's Manual. I would certainly not do so.
