I'm looking at the specs on my tractor and trying to decipher what it is telling me. According to the brochure:

B2650 Hydraulics
Lift Capacity (at lift point) 2139 lbs
(24" behind LP) 1676 lbs
LA534A FEL
Lift Capacity (pivot pin) 1146 lbs
(19.7" forward) 827 lbs

So, let's say I want to lift logs for instance. It appears I could handle more weight on the 3-point hitch with a boom than I could with the FEL.

Is my thinking correct or am I missing some other factor I should consider? I just want to be as safe as possible when working with this tractor since I'm a rookie.

Thanks!

Unless your lifting massive logs, the FEL is more than adequate for 99% of log lifting tasks. And IMO much easier to use

The initial reason for my question is I had a pretty large dead tree fall in my field and I may have to lift one end up a little to chainsaw through it.

If your boom hook was 4' from the 3 point hitch, then the lift capacity is only 838 lbs (based on the numbers you provided). Also, if you boom hook is raised off the ground a ways (above rear axle) and you drag the log, then you are adding another force that is going to tend to lift you front end up... which means the loading would be even less.

So boom length and height matter.

Just use the FEL to get under it and curl it back, Curl is much stronger than lift. ;)
