B2650 HSD 50 hour service questions.

Not sure Kubota Dave why our manuals have different specs, but this is what I was going from. I did talk to my dealer when I went there to get oil and filters and his recommendation was engine oil and filters and hst and hydraulic filters as there could metal in the system during break in during the first 50 hrs. Not trying to tell you what to do with your machine, just trying to be helpful and pass on some of my knowledge after operating heavy equipment for 38 years.

Change the hydro fluid, its cheap insurance! I stoped over to a friends as he was doing the 50 hr service, filter only change on a B2950. I took the pail of oil, 2.5 gal. into the sunlight, It was full of metal flake. I don't care what the manuals say!

My best to go by the kubota service manual, if you don't trust Kubota engineers why buy a Kubota, as far small parts I find it is cheaper to buy from my local dealer after the shipping cost the on-line price is not such a good deal sometimes BUT i do double check, most dealer are not that much higher. I try to use Kubota parts, for me I don't use my tractor commerical and it takes long time to get 50 hours are 150 hours so the little extra cost don't mean that much to me.

not a first service.. but at the second service for the hydraulic system. i got some metal from around the inlet of the filter. it looked like a stretched coil of steel from the machining process for cutting threads or something.

make sure the engine oil drain plug(s) are tight. i lost a drain plug on my L3300. the motor lost the drain plug about 30 hours after a service. when the insurance claim was filed, i was told that the drain plug seal must be replaced at every oil change.
in my 50 plus years of doing oil changes. i've only replaced the seal, if there was signs of oil seeping around/through the gasket/seal. i have never seen a requirement to replace the oil drain seals at every oil change.
just saying...????

Good point tempforce. If the drain plug seal is to be replaced at every oil change, then it should be written into the manual.

As for shipping cost...order fluids, filters and anything else you want or need via Amazon Prime. For example...I had a blinker lens sent from the dealer 9 miles away and the UPS shipping was more than the lens.

Where is the vent on the B2650HSD? And which is which on the hydraulic filters and do you have to do different procedures for removing each one?

Getting close to the 50 hr service on a b2601. I spoke to the local dealer and if they do the service only the hydro filter is changed. If customer is doing it then the parts counter recommends that the fluid also be replaced. I totally agree with them. Especially the first service. Why would you leave the first oils in the machine, the first change is the most important as it gets rid of all the foreign debris from manufacturing. I bought a Kubota to have for a long time and preventative maintenance will keep it running.
