My B2601 used to run 2,800 revs at WOT (maybe a little more). It now runs around 2,600. 2,800 is where the PTO revs mark is on the rev counter - i.e. it's supposed to run 2,800.
I think it's something in the throttle cable or throttle linkage or somewhere. It runs up to 2,800 revs if I hold the hand throttle open, but when I let go it springs back a bit, and runs at 2,600. It also does it when not moving, and not running the mower (i.e. when not under load). So I don't think it's load or something, I think it's just something in the throttle linkage out of adjustment or sticking a bit.
I've had a quick look, but haven't had a good look yet. Thought I'd ask if this is a known/common problem, or if anyone already knows exactly what I need to do to fix it. Failing that I was going to clean and lube everything that looks related to the throttle linkage and see if that sorts things.
